How much does interior painting cost?
The rooms, wall height, preparation, paint, and included surfaces all affect the total. Our interior painting cost guide explains examples, and the calculator lets you build an estimate for your rooms.
Is an estimate free?
Yes. You can start with our free online interior calculator or contact Vidar to arrange a free painting consultation.
Is the calculator price final?
No. It is a planning estimate. Measurements, surface condition, preparation, and access are reviewed before the final written proposal.
Are ceilings, doors, and baseboards included with walls?
Only when they are included in your selected services and written scope. The calculator lets you choose these separately, so a wall-only estimate should not be read as a full-room repaint.
Who buys the paint?
The calculator offers paint packages and an Owner Supplied option. Confirm the products and quantities with Vidar before purchasing paint yourself.
Preparing your home.
Do I need to move the furniture?
Discuss furniture handling during the walkthrough. Clear personal items and fragile belongings, and agree on any large or heavy pieces before the work starts.
How do you protect floors and belongings?
We plan covering and masking around the surfaces being painted. Floors, furnishings, and nearby areas are protected as needed. See our interior protection process.
Can we stay home while you paint?
Often, but it depends on the scope, products, ventilation, and access to the rooms. Discuss occupancy in advance, especially for whole-home, spraying, or ceiling projects.
What should I do with pets?
Plan a separate area away from the work and any open doors. Discuss where pets will stay before the crew arrives.
Are wall repairs included?
Repairs should be described in the proposal. Small holes and cracks can differ greatly from damaged drywall or recurring stains, so point out all problem areas during the walkthrough.

Paint, colors & finishes.
What paint do you use?
We frequently use Sherwin-Williams products, including Duration for walls and Emerald Urethane for trim and doors. The exact coating depends on the surface and is confirmed in the proposal.
How many coats will my project need?
Many of our repaint projects use two finish coats. Primer and additional preparation depend on the surface and color change. Your proposal should state the coating plan.
Does every wall need primer?
Not necessarily. Bare areas, stains, repairs, or a major color change may need primer. Full-wall priming is a separate selection in the interior calculator.
Can you help me think through colors?
The interior calculator includes color collections for inspiration. Discuss your selections with Vidar and check real paint samples in your room; screen colors are only a guide.
Will touching up a wall look seamless?
Not always. Even a matching paint name can look different because of age, sheen, texture, or application. Repainting from corner to corner may give a more consistent finish.
Scheduling & getting started.
How long will painting take?
Timing depends on the number of rooms, preparation, access, and drying between steps. Vidar discusses the schedule after reviewing the scope; a wall repaint and a ceiling-removal project need different plans.
Do I need to be there the whole time?
Not necessarily. Agree in advance on access, how to reach you, and who can approve decisions or review the completed work.
Can you work around a move or rental booking?
Tell Vidar about the deadline when you first make contact. Availability and the necessary work must be confirmed before a schedule is promised. Read about rental property painting.

How do I request an estimate?

Ceilings, wallpaper & other services.
Do you remove popcorn ceilings?
Yes, we offer popcorn ceiling work following a review of the existing surface and appropriate preparation requirements. The scope can include removal, skim coating, priming, and repainting. Explore popcorn ceiling services.
Why can wallpaper removal take so long?
Paper type, adhesive, layers, and the surface underneath all affect removal. One wall may release easily while another needs much more time. See two real wallpaper-removal projects.
Do you paint cabinets?

Do you also offer exterior painting and pressure cleaning?
