The home’s first impression

Make the detail feel deliberate.

An entryway brings multiple surfaces together in a single view. The ceiling, walls, crown molding, and their edges all contribute to how the entrance feels.

This project film follows the preparation and paintwork in the entryway of a 10,000-square-foot Lakewood Ranch home, including the use of a Titan FlexSpray handheld system for the detailed trim work.

Preparation frames the result.

The film begins with the work around the work: covering and masking adjacent surfaces, removing dust and debris, and preparing the areas to receive primer.

In the project photo, masking runs directly beneath the crown molding, and surrounding areas are covered. That separation matters when several finishes meet in one room.

From crown molding to the broad surfaces.

The crown molding received Sherwin-Williams Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel. ProBlock primer was used during preparation, with Duration used for the walls and ceiling.

The Titan FlexSpray is part of this particular application setup. The method for another home may differ with the profile of the trim, the surrounding finishes, and the access available.

Follow the entryway process.

  1. Mask the surrounding surfaces

Protect the room and establish the boundaries of the spray and painting work.

  2. Prepare and prime

Remove dust and debris, prepare the surfaces, and apply the project’s ProBlock primer.

  3. Finish the crown

Use the Titan FlexSpray setup to apply Emerald Urethane to the prepared crown molding.

  4. Complete the walls and ceiling

Apply Duration to the broad surfaces and bring the adjoining finishes together.

Edges are part of the design.

The video also features clear caulk and blue painter’s tape as part of the edge work. The appropriate sequence depends on the surface and the materials being used; it belongs in the preparation plan.

If your entryway has prominent molding or several changes of ceiling height, include a few close photos along with a wide view when you request an estimate.

Think through the daily route.

The entrance is part of the way you move through your home. Before work begins, discuss access through the area, furniture or decorative items nearby, and how the room connects to the rest of the interior.

For a larger refresh, consider whether adjacent walls or trim should be included so the written scope reflects the full result you want.

Before your own project.

Can crown molding be painted separately from the walls?

It can be a separate part of the scope. The proposal should describe protection, preparation, and any adjacent touch-up work needed for the agreed result.

Will every entryway be spray-painted?

No. The application method is selected for the surfaces, detail, access, and protection needed. This film shows the spray setup used for this project.

How do I start an entryway estimate?

Send a wide view of the entryway, close photos of the crown and trim, and a list of the surfaces you want painted. Mention ceiling height and the main route through the room.

Plan your interior project

Give your entrance a fresh welcome.

Tell Vidar which rooms you want to refresh. Send a few photos and we’ll discuss the preparation, surfaces, and next step toward a written estimate.

Continue through the home.
