A fresh direction for a detailed room

Let the room’s character come through.

Dark finishes and strong architectural details gave this master bedroom a dramatic starting point. The goal of the refresh was a brighter, cleaner, more modern feel while giving the room’s trim and ceiling details careful attention.

The project footage shows what goes into that change: protective coverings, access around the tall window, surface preparation, priming, and coordinated finish work.

Protect the room before changing it.

In a furnished bedroom, preparation includes the space around the paintwork. Floors and furniture need protection, and nearby surfaces need masking before the spraying and painting begin.

The photographs show coverings across the floor and a scaffold set up at the window. Those visible preparations are part of the work, not an afterthought once the paint is ready.

Different surfaces. A coordinated finish.

For this bedroom, we used Sherwin-Williams ProBlock on the walls and ceilings and B-I-N Shellac-Base Primer on the trim. The trim then received two coats of Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel, with Duration Interior used for the walls and ceiling.

The product names are only part of the story. Preparation, masking, and the order of work are what let each stage fit into the next.

The bedroom sequence.

  1. Cover and mask

Protect floors, furniture, trim-adjacent areas, and surfaces outside the painting scope.

  2. Prepare and prime

Complete the surface preparation, then apply the primers specified for the walls, ceiling, and trim.

  3. Spray the trim

Apply two coats of Emerald Urethane Trim Enamel to the prepared trim in this project.

  4. Paint the room

Finish the walls and ceiling with Duration Interior and complete the room’s agreed paintwork.

Planning a bedroom of your own?

Tell us what you want to change and what should stay as it is. Include the walls, ceiling, crown molding, baseboards, doors, and window trim in that conversation so the proposal clearly identifies the surfaces involved.

Photos of the whole room and closer views of the trim help us understand the existing finish. Mention furniture that will stay in the room and any tall or hard-to-reach areas.

Before your own project.

Does a bedroom estimate include the trim and ceiling?

The estimate should identify them separately. Let us know whether you want walls only or also the ceiling, crown, baseboards, doors, and window trim.

Do I need to move all the furniture?

We will discuss room access, furniture placement, and protection before the work. Send a wide photo so we can plan around the room’s layout.

Will my bedroom use the same products?

The video records what was used on this project. Your existing coatings, surface condition, and desired finish determine the proposed preparation and product choices.

Plan your interior project
